The Reason For A Massage…
Why a massage?
Why get a massage? Massage is not something people get for any one reason. Many individuals receive massage in order to relax. Physically, a massage can reset ones central nervous system from a sympathetic state (fight or flight), to a para sympathetic state (rest and digest). This is why ones stomach begins to gurgle and make noise deep into a massage session.
Another reason for getting a massage is the power of touch. Touch can have profound effects on individuals, physically or emotionally. There are many people in the world who lack physical contact with others. It is already known that touch can trigger the release of the hormones, Oxytocin.
Frequent massage is often used for relieving pain and soreness from work outs or injury. It can be used to lengthen or broaden muscles and to break apart adhesions between muscle fibers to increase range of motion.
Massage should be incorporated into everyone’s life. There are many overall wellness benefits to be felt after a massage; whether they be mental, physical or spiritual.
Frequency and duration of massage can be assessed by a Licensed Massage Therapist for each individual.
