Mothers Can’t Pour from An Empty Cup

Why should we pamper our moms all throughout the year, versus only celebrating them once on Mother’s Day? They are the epitome of love and creation. Honoring our mothers daily allows them to be in flow with life, in joy with others, and share the divine love they naturally hold within themselves with the world. They are the creators and foundation of our homes.

Everyone knows that you can’t pour from an empty cup. Our mothers can’t heal and get better in a day if they are depleted, unsupported by their community, and not investing in themselves. Our mothers can’t simply just have one day dedicated to them. In order to create a life of positive health, one must invest in daily self-care practices to heal and nourish themselves every day. How can we uplift our mothers more frequently, and support them in filling their cups up? Think about it, one day of care in their honor versus three hundred sixty- four days of not care?

Who is the mother and what role do they play in our lives? According to Wikipedia, a mother is the female parent of a child. Mothers are women who inhabit or perform the role of bearing some relation to their children, who may or may not be their biological offspring. We know this is a limited description of all the responsibilities our mothers bear the weight of. Having children 24/7 is above and beyond a full-time job for women. They juggle many responsibilities beyond what we could ever fit into one brief description. They are the foundation of our world and deserve to be uplifted daily.

It is important to encourage our mothers to dedicate time for themselves, to allow them a break from the constant supervision over their work, family, and entertaining friends. We want to be their support system by encouraging them to take time for self-care to help them avoid burnout.

Prioritizing self-care is not always possible and easy for women and that is why we should create space for our mothers to take time for rest and self-restoration. Let’s encourage every woman in our lives to take care of themselves, whether for one hour, one day, or a weekend. Let’s learn how to love ourselves, appreciate ourselves, and cultivate a self-care practice every day not once a year on Mother’s Day only.
